About Dr. Kaplan Dr. Heather Kaplan grew up in Palmer, Alaska, and earned both her B.S. in Natural Science and her M.S. in Marine Biology from the University of Alaska. In addition, she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University, and previously served as an Associate Veterinarian at VCA Alaska Pet Care. She loves being a veterinarian because it allows her to combine her love of science with her love of working closely with people and animals.

When she’s not busy caring for your pets, Dr. Kaplan enjoys gardening. She likes to grow veggies and tropical flowers. She also loves hiking, camping, going to the beach with her kids, and of course spending time with her eight-year-old dog, Finn.
